Rediscover the Beautiful Woman You Were Before Life Got So Busy

Sometimes, the woman you’ve been searching for isn’t gone at all. She’s simply been waiting for you to come back.

There was a time when you laughed without checking the clock.

  • You had hobbies that made your heart happy.
  • You lingered over a good book.
  • You noticed sunsets.
  • You dreamed about the future.
  • You spent time doing things simply because they brought you joy.

Then, little by little, life happened.

Then came marriage, children, careers, responsibilities, appointments, laundry, meals, bills, and endless deadlines.

Before long, the woman who loved painting, hiking, baking, journaling, gardening, photography, or simply sitting quietly with a cup of coffee slowly faded into the background.

Not because you wanted her to.

Instead, everyone else seemed to need you.

If you’ve ever wondered where you went, friend, you’re not alone.

However, the beautiful news is this…

She isn’t gone. She’s still there.

She simply needs a little room to breathe again.

When Did You Stop Being Part of Your Own Life?

Most women don’t wake up one morning and decide to stop taking care of themselves.

Instead, it usually happens slowly.

  • One busy season becomes another.
  • Then one obligation turns into ten.
  • Before you know it, one year quietly becomes twenty.
  • Eventually, without realizing it…

Without realizing it, we become so focused on everyone else’s needs that we stop asking ourselves one simple question:

“What do I need today?”

As a result, we become experts…at carrying everyone else’s worries while quietly setting our own aside.

Somewhere Along the Way, You Forgot You Matter Too

You remembered the dentist appointments. Then there was the grocery list, the birthdays, the permission slips, the emails, the errands, the laundry, the phone calls, the meals, the homework, and all the little details that keep a family running.

Yet somewhere between checking things off your list…

You forgot to check in with yourself.

Friend…

You matter too.

The Woman You Miss Is Still Inside You

Perhaps she loved to paint. Or maybe she loved hiking through the woods. Perhaps writing filled her heart. Maybe instead, she enjoyed gardening or taking pictures of wildflowers. Perhaps she simply loved sitting outside watching the sunrise with a warm cup of coffee.

Those pieces of you didn’t disappear.

In fact, they’ve been with you all along.

Instead, they’ve simply been buried… underneath years of responsibilities.

Thankfully, the wonderful thing about joy is this:

It doesn’t have to be recreated.

It only has to be rediscovered.

You Don’t Have to Become Someone New

The world is constantly telling women to reinvent themselves.

Lose weight.

Work harder.

Be more productive.

Do more.

Achieve more.

But here’s the good news, friend…

You don’t need another version of yourself.

You simply need to reconnect with the wonderful woman God already created you to be.

Sometimes personal growth isn’t about becoming someone different.

Rather, it’s about remembering who you’ve always been.

God Never Intended for You to Lose Yourself

Throughout Scripture, we see Jesus stepping away from the crowds.

  • He rested.
  • He prayed.
  • He sought quiet places.
  • He made time to reconnect with His Father.

Therefore, if even Jesus intentionally stepped away… from constant demands, perhaps we should stop believing that exhaustion is a badge of honor.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us:

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

That includes seasons of work.

And seasons of rest.

A cozy cream coffee mug, a bouquet of fresh flowers, an open journal with a pen, and a soft knitted throw sit on a rustic wooden table overlooking a mountain landscape. The pin includes a gentle checklist of simple self-care ideas, such as reading a book, watching the sunrise, journaling, taking a walk, praying, and laughing with a friend, encouraging women to rediscover themselves one small choice at a time.

Start Looking for Little Pieces of Yourself Again

Rediscovering yourself doesn’t happen overnight.

Instead, it happens one small choice at a time.

Maybe this week you’ll:

  • Read one chapter of a book.
  • Watch the sunrise.
  • Take a walk without your phone.
  • Buy fresh flowers for your kitchen table.
  • Sit on the porch for fifteen peaceful minutes.
  • Journal your thoughts.
  • Listen to your favorite music.
  • Visit a local park.
  • Spend time in prayer.
  • Laugh with a friend.

None of these things are extravagant.

However, together they gently remind your heart what it feels like to simply be.

Your Family Doesn’t Need a Perfect You

In fact, this may surprise you.

The people who love you don’t need a woman who’s exhausted from trying to do everything perfectly.

  • They don’t need someone who’s constantly overwhelmed.
  • They don’t need someone who’s forgotten how to smile.
  • They simply need you.

More importantly, they need…

  • A peaceful you.
  • A joyful you.
  • A rested you.
  • A woman who remembers that taking care of herself isn’t taking anything away from her family—it’s giving them the very best version of herself.

Joy Is Waiting for You

Sometimes we think finding ourselves means making huge life changes.

However, it’s often much simpler than that.

Joy is waiting in ordinary moments.

The first sip of coffee before the house wakes up.

The sound of birds outside your window.

The warmth of sunshine on your face.

A quiet evening walk.

A journal page filled with honest thoughts.

A heartfelt conversation with God.

Little moments.

Yet, big healing.

Come Home to Yourself, Friend

If life has felt overwhelming lately, I want you to know something.

  • You haven’t failed.
  • You haven’t disappeared.
  • You haven’t become less valuable.

You’ve simply spent a long-time taking care of everyone else.

Now, it’s finally time…

Now it’s time to begin taking care of the beautiful woman God entrusted to you.

Not because you’ve earned it.

Not because you’ve finished everything on your to-do list.

Because you are worthy of care, too.

It begins with one quiet morning.

Then one peaceful walk.

Next, one journal page.

After that, one deep breath.

Eventually, one sunset.

Finally, one smile.

One beautiful moment at a time, you’ll begin to recognize her again.

And I have a feeling…

You’re going to love the woman you rediscover.

Whether you choose one of my thoughtfully designed journals or simply grab a notebook that’s been sitting in your desk drawer, what matters most is that you begin. Your story, your thoughts, your dreams, and your heart are worth putting on paper.

Finally, here’s my little challenge for you this week…

Do one thing that the younger version of you would smile about.

Read the book.

Take the walk.

Buy the flowers.

Watch the sunset.

Laugh until your cheeks hurt.

Sing along to that song with the windows down—even if you miss every high note. (Trust me, the birds will survive. 😄)

Life has a funny way of convincing us we have to outgrow the little things that once made us happy. Instead, maybe growing isn’t about leaving those things behind.

Perhaps it’s about finding your way back to them.

The woman you were before life got so busy is still in there… and she’s been cheering you on this whole time.

So go spend a little time with her.

After all, I think you’ve both missed each other.

XOXO,
~Linda
